Temporary Closure of the Intersection of Route 229 and Wiggin Street
The Ohio Department of Transportation is installing a roundabout at the intersection of Route 229 and Wiggin Street to improve safety at the main entrance of Gambier. The intersection will be closed to pedestrians and vehicles from June 3 - Nov. 1, 2024.
Visitors should plan to arrive at Kenyon via Route 308. Please check Google Maps and review the information below and on the Ohio Department of Transportation website.
Take Interstate 75 South to Findlay and exit onto U.S. 23/Ohio 15 South. Take 23 South to Ohio 95 East in Marion. Follow 95 East to Ohio 13 South in Fredericktown. Take Ohio 13 South to Mount Vernon. Or take Interstate 71 South and exit onto Ohio 13 South at Mansfield. Follow Ohio 13 South to Mount Vernon.
Turn left on East Chestnut. Follow signs for U.S. 36 (Coshocton Avenue), heading east to Route 308 and turn right. Travel 2.7 miles to the Village of Gambier. To access visitor parking, turn right on Wiggin Street and left onto College Drive.
Take Interstate 70 West and exit onto Ohio 13 North at Newark. Follow Ohio 13 North to Mount Vernon. Or take Interstate 77 North to Interstate 70 West. Follow I-70 West and exit onto 13 North at Newark. Follow Ohio 13 (South Main Street) to downtown Mount Vernon.
From South Main Street turn right onto South Gay Street. Follow signs for U.S. 36 (Coshocton Avenue), heading east to Route 308 and turn right. Travel 2.7 miles to the Village of Gambier. To access visitor parking, turn right on Wiggin Street and left onto College Drive.
Alternate Route: From U.S. 62 travel west on Route 229, turning right onto Duff Street. Turn left onto Wiggin Street and continue to College Drive for visitor parking.
Take Interstate 71 North from Columbus and exit onto U.S. 36 East. Follow U.S. 36 East to Mount Vernon. Follow the signs to continue on U.S. 36 through Mount Vernon, heading east to Route 308 and turn right. Travel 2.7 miles to the Village of Gambier. To access visitor parking, turn right on Wiggin Street and left onto College Drive.
Alternate Route: From U.S. 62 travel west on Route 229, turning right onto Duff Street. Turn left onto Wiggin Street and continue to College Drive for visitor parking.
John Glenn International Airport is about a 60-minute drive from Gambier. There is no public transportation (other than taxis) between the airport and Mount Vernon or Gambier. During the school year, high school students visiting alone can arrange for a shuttle.
To drive to Kenyon, follow signs for 670 and 270. Bear right for 670 and 270 East. Merge onto 270 North toward Cleveland. Take Exit 30 and follow signs for Ohio 161 East. Merge onto Ohio 161 East toward New Albany. Take the exit for U.S. 62 (New Albany/Johnstown) and turn left onto U.S. 62. Continue on U.S. 62 approximately 18 miles and turn left (north) onto Ohio 661. Proceed approximately 11 miles north to Mount Vernon. Continue on 661 (turning right onto Blackjack Road Ext., following signs to Kenyon), then turn left (north) on Ohio 13 and follow it to downtown Mount Vernon. Turn right onto South Gay Street. Follow signs for U.S. 36 (Coshocton Avenue), heading east to Route 308 and turn right. Travel 2.7 miles to the Village of Gambier. To access visitor parking, turn right on Wiggin Street and left onto College Drive.

Visitor Parking
Visitors may park in the West Quad parking garage on College Drive. The garage entrance clearance is 8 feet 4 inches. The parking garage provides direct access to Lowell House, Chalmers Library and Oden Hall.
Limited parking is available in Chapel Circle, the circular drive next to Ransom Hall and near the Church of the Holy Spirit. Additional parking is located in front of Peirce Hall.
