Bunk Beds/Lofts

Placing beds in the bunked/lofted position is optional on the part of the resident. Should a resident wish to bunk/loft a bed, they should reach out to the Office of Residential Life. If beds are lofted, bed frames must be securely supported on both sides by Kenyon College bed ends. Bed lofting is available through bedloft.com. Students may pre-order their beds to be lofted before move-in day to make their transition to campus smoother.

College Furniture

All Kenyon furniture must remain in the room in which it is originally located. The Office of Residential Life does not provide storage facilities for furniture. All furnishings must be returned to the original position in the room before the student checks out of the room. Failure to do so could result in being charged for the missing furniture/College property.

Decorations

No decorations may be hung from room, hallway, lounge, restroom or entryway ceilings in a manner that will interfere with safe passage or evacuation. No decorations of any sort shall be placed in hallways, aisles, stairwells or exit routes.

Exit signs, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, fire alarm pulls, emergency lights, PED boxes and audible fire signals/ strobe lights cannot be decorated, covered, or obstructed in any way.

Draperies or tapestries are not allowed on ceilings, covering any lights or more on more than approximately 50 percent of walls in any room.

Tents, tarps and canopies are prohibited without prior approval from the Office of Residential Life.
