The Office of Residential Life is supported by a student staff of 50 Community Advisors. Community Advisors, or CAs, are student leaders who build community in their assigned residential areas. CAs are responsible for putting on social events for their communities, maintaining community standards, and providing resources and support to their residents. Each community is a little different and the CAs provide an excellent mix of skills, interests and identities to their area of campus. The CA position is a stand-out leadership position at Kenyon and teaches students a variety of transferable skills including mentorship, role modeling, time management, event planning and navigating interpersonal relationships.

CA recruitment for the upcoming academic year begins in late January. Position information is typically released around the time the spring semester begins, with the application going live in late January. Interviews and the selection process continue through January and into February. We aim to wrap up this process before spring break begins.

Students with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and who are in good academic and conduct standing are welcome to apply to be CAs. Students who have questions about what it is like to be a CA should reach out to their own CA or assistant director for more details.

The CA selection process for the 2025-26 will be live in January 2025. Position application and details can be found on Handshake. Below you will find more information about tabling events, info sessions and selection deadlines.

"I was so nervous when I got to Kenyon for the first time, and my CA was one of the people who made me feel at home by turning our dorm into a community. So I became a CA to help new students navigate their life on campus. I pass on what my friends, professors and other mentors told me during my first year that helped make it one of the highlights of my whole life so far."

“Being a CA has been an even greater experience than I ever expected. When I applied to be a CA I still hadn’t found my own community at Kenyon, I decided that if I couldn’t find my people, the least I could do was to help other people find theirs. Being a CA has been one of the highlights of my time at Kenyon, not only because I have been able to help others, but because the role has helped me to find my own community.”
