Kenyon Remembers Randolph “Randy” Justice

Randolph “Randy” Justice, a retired longtime painter at Kenyon, died July 20 at the age of 83. A resident of Gambier, he worked at the College in the maintenance department from 1987 to 2001, retiring after 14 years of service.

Born Sept. 5, 1939 in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, Justice was the son of the late Charles and Norma (Crum) Justice. He had a multitude of interests and a deep faith.

“He was very family-oriented,” said his daughter-in-law Denise Justice, who works at the Kenyon College Bookstore. “He loved the outdoors. He was a gardener and loved to fish and golf.” 

He enjoyed his time at Kenyon, a place that has special meaning for his family, Denise Justice said. Other relatives with connections to the College include son Randall Justice, who works as a custodian; granddaughter Jess Barron, assistant manager at the bookstore; and grandson John Justice, a member of the Class of 2006. 

Randy Justice is survived by his wife, Bernie M. Justice; daughter Vicki Justice; sons Randall Justice and James (Denise) Justice; sisters Betty Jo (Angelo) Bowling and Norma Jean (Richard) Gochnauer; brother Robert James (Nancy) Justice, as well as a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by six sisters and two brothers. 

A memorial service took place at Snyder Funeral Home - Lasater Chapel in Mount Vernon on July 26.
