On November 25, Kenyon College launched the Healthy Minds Study in collaboration with the University of Michigan, inviting all students to share their perspectives on mental health and wellness.

The Healthy Minds Study provides valuable insights into student knowledge, attitudes and behaviors related to mental health. Using validated measures, it examines key topics such as stigma, help-seeking behavior and barriers to accessing support services. This data will help Kenyon better tailor its mental health initiatives to meet student needs.

Participants not only contribute to shaping future programs and policies but also receive stickers and are entered into a drawing for prizes, including Jellycats and Warmies.

As a designated JED Campus, Kenyon is committed to creating a culture of mental health and well-being. Through the JED Campus program — a nationwide initiative of the Jed Foundation — Kenyon has embarked on a multi-year strategic collaboration to enhance its mental health programs and support systems. The program aims to drive systemic, sustainable change on campus.

Kenyon’s JED Campus efforts including this study are led by a team of dedicated campus partners:

  • Holly Levin, associate director of health promotion

  • Ted Mason, associate provost for diversity, equity & inclusion and special advisor to the president

  • Alice Teall, senior director of wellness

  • Erika Farfan, associate vice president for institutional research

  • Caryn Reynolds, associate director for institutional research

Students are encouraged to take this opportunity to make their voices heard and help shape the future of mental health services at Kenyon. Email reminders with a link to the survey will be sent on Wednesday, Dec. 4, and Tuesday, Dec. 10. The survey closes on Friday, Dec. 13.
