Date

The Kenyon College Board of Trustees convened on June 26 for its final meeting of the 2022-2023 year. The main business of the Board was to elect officers and complete the appointment of its incoming trustees.

The board approved the appointment of Karl Slatoff ’92 to a six-year term as a trustee-at-large. Slatoff will join Antoinette Keck ’90 (trustee-at-large), Maraleen Shields ’00 (alumni trustee) and Mark Israel P’26 (parent trustee) in the incoming class of trustees. Together they bring experience and expertise in business and economics, law and education, as well as a mix of volunteer service to Kenyon.

The Board also elected a new slate of officers. Aileen Hefferren ’88 H’12 will serve as chair, succeeding Brackett Denniston ’69, who completed his second four-year term in the role. A longtime member of the Executive Committee, Hefferren chaired the Inclusion and Equity Committee as well as the search for Kenyon’s 20th president. Susan Tomasky P’17 will serve as vice chair, succeeding Joseph Lipscomb ’87, who is rotating off the board after 22 years of service. Judith Hoff Gilbert ’91 and Kathryn Brechler Lake will continue as secretary and assistant secretary, respectively.
