FAQ
Have questions about using your K-Card? See below!
This is Kenyon's name for your employee or student ID card. This is used primarily for door access, printing, library checkout and (for students only) can be used as a debit card. Read more at kenyon.edu/kcard.
Mobile ID is an app for Apple and Android that allows you to open doors into academic buildings and dormitories using your smartphone. The app is not meant to replace your K-Card, but will make forgetting your K-Card far less of a hassle. Mobile ID will grant you the same access as your K-card. It will be important that you still carry your K-Card, as Mobile ID does not currently mimic all the features of a K-Card and is not a valid form of ID.
Instructions for downloading Mobile ID can be found here.
K-Cards are proximity cards that should be help up to the card readers to unlock the door.
If you believe you should have access to a space and your card does not work, please check the building schedule to ensure you are trying to access the space during an assessable time frame.
If you are having trouble accessing your dorm, please put in a TopDesk ticket or email cardoffice@kenyon.edu. (ResLife?)
If you are trying to access an interior space that requires special permissions, please contact the building admin or the person who manages the space or your group to ensure you have been added to the appropriate door access groups.
If your card doesn't allow access to any spaces, please email cardoffice@kneyon.edu or put in a TopDesk ticket.
If you are logging into your library account or requesting items online you will be prompted to enter your name and barcode. The barcode is located on the back of your K-Card and is typically displayed as 100000+ID number. The library requires that you show your K-Card at the the circulation desk in order to check out any items.
You don't need your physical K-Card, but having it will make printing a lot easier. When you get to the printer, you will need to log in by scanning your K-Card or by typing in your username and password. After you log in, press the Print release button, and the printer will print all of the jobs in your queue.
If your card does not work on a public printer, please contact Helpline or put in a TopDesk ticket. Please be as specific as possible.
Please note that if you recently had a card printed it could take up to 24 hours for your card to work on printers.
For students only, your K-Card can be used as a debit card. Read more at kenyon.edu/kcard.
Please put in a TopDesk ticket to request door access changes to doors that require card access. Please note that only Faculty and Staff can make door access change requests and some changes require approval from the Provost's Office or the building admins. Campus Safety should be notified of any door access change requests.
PLEASE NOTE: We do require five business days for door access changes to allow for time for these changes to be made in case of illness, vacations and other projects.
