The Robert P. Hubbard Professorship with the Department of English welcomes Jesse Nathan, the 2024 GLCA New Writers Award in Poetry winner, to Kenyon.

Nathan was raised in northern California and rural Kansas. His first book of poems "Eggtooth" (Unbound Edition Press, 2023) won the 2024 GLCA New Writers Award in Poetry and the 2024 Housatonic Book Award. Nathan’s poetry and translations have appeared in a range of periodicals including The New York Review of Books, The Paris Review, The American Poetry Review, The Kenyon Review, BOMB, The Nation, The Believer, Poetry, Mantis, and Poetry International. Co-editor of "In the Shape of a Human Body I Am Visiting on Earth: Poems from Far and Wide" (2017), Nathan was a founding editor of the McSweeney's Poetry Series. 

A 2024 LABA Bay Area Fellow and 2024 Robert Frost Fellow in Poetry at Bread Loaf, he teaches in the English Department at UC Berkeley.
