Every day physicists play exciting roles in advancing the state of medicine. Austin Faught of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center will introduce to the audience the niche yet exciting field of medical physics. Along the way, he will talk about some of the different sub-fields within medical physics and what the training pathways look like. He will finish the presentation by talking about his involvement, as a physicist, in opening Central Ohio’s first proton therapy facility. This will include how a proton beam is turned into a clinically useful tool in treating various types of cancer.
