Celebrate the birthday of Frederick Douglass this Valentine's Day.

Learn about the life of this important figure and his visit to Mount Vernon, Ohio. We'll also have opportunities to transcribe (type print materials) from the work of his contemporaries for the U.S. archives. Additionally, our amazing archives will have his 1855  autobiography on display in our special collections. Kenyon's Writing Center will also provide a display about Black history in Knox County on the third floor of the library.

The celebration doesn't stop there! We'll have raffles and birthday cake (and other treats) while partying with a global community thanks to the work of DouglassDay.org. There will be a scavenger hunt with prizes that will guide you to dive deeper into Kenyon's connections with Black History Month.

Stop by the Writing Center in Chalmers Library to get a map of all the activities any time between noon and 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14. Come for a brief visit or stay for the whole party!

Open to students, staff, faculty and the larger Knox County community.
