Ever since Shane was a kid he wanted to work in the wildlife field. After receiving his associate’s degree in wildlife management in 2010 from Hocking College, he started his career as conservationist for the Dawes Arboretum in Newark, OH. At Dawes, Shane managed a 37-acre wetland, and many more acres in the woodlands and prairies.
Shane came to the Brown Family Environmental Center in September 2015 as the land manager/naturalist. His primary responsibility is land management, which includes trail maintenance, invasive plant species removal, and so much more. But he is also an invaluable presenter for public programs and elementary school field trips. When Shane is not chain-sawing trees that have fallen across a trail or pulling privet along the river, he can be found hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
