Pick up a BINGO card from the BFEC resource center breezeway, and take a quiet stroll along the trails as you try to identify winter trees by their twigs and buds. Return your card to receive a small trinket. Enjoy

From December through February during daylight hours, enjoy the fresh air and take a hike on the BFEC river trail, using a clue brochure to solve puzzles as you hike. Once you’ve solved the puzzles, drop off your answers at the resource center for a small trinket.

This exhibition is a showcase of traditional-to-contemporary textile art, highlighting the craft's history from folk art to modern interpretations using varied materials like recycled fabrics and wool, all from local artisans.

Meet local artists and learn about the traditional art of rug hooking.

From their unique necks and distinct calls, owls are fascinating creatures. We’ll dissect owl pellets to discover what owls eat along with other owl-based activities.

Learn about leaf scars, bundle traces, bud scales and more. We will start inside with the basics and then test our new-found knowledge outside to identify common trees.  

Explore the water cycle and snow formation: through hands-on science experiments and arts and crafts, discover how snow forms and falls.

Join the BFEC to discover animal tracks, scat and other clues found in the snow and mud. This hands-on program is welcoming to all ages and experience levels and is a great fit for families, individuals and anyone curious about wildlife in winter.

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s really a bird! Join our flock to learn about local bird species. We’ll build our own nests, talk about beak adaptations and more, all while doing some indoor birdwatching.

Come outside to make forts, play on our nature play trail and expend all of that extra energy. Unless conditions are hazardous, we will brave the cold together, so bring your hat and gloves!
