Voter Registration Instructions & Dorm Addresses

Eligibility

Voting requires U.S. citizenship, age 18 on or before Election Day.

Generally, college students may register to vote in their hometown or in their college town. (See the Ohio Secretary of State’s website for details.)

If you have a state scholarship, you should vote as a resident of that state.

Voting in Gambier

Complete and print the registration form (PDF). Registering to vote in Gambier cancels any earlier registration elsewhere. You cannot vote in two places.  You can easily register somewhere else when you move from Gambier.  

Complete the form carefully. Frequently voters make mistakes on the following: 

• Notice the first item: Check one of the three boxes at the top of the form to become an Ohio voter, to change your voting address, or to update your name.
• Questions 1 and 2: Confirm you are a U.S. citizen and will be 18 on or before Election Day.
• Address (boxes 4-6). Use the street address for your Kenyon dorm. Be sure to write north, south, east, or west if that is part of the street address.
• Box 7: Provide your Gambier P.O. Box address (zip code is 43022). If you do not have an assigned P.O. Box, please reference 101 E. Brooklyn St, Gambier, OH 43022.
• Line 8: KNOX County.
• Line 9: Birth date, including year (do not write the current year).
• Line 10: Do not overlook this box. If you do not have an Ohio government ID, provide the last four digits of your social security number.
• Line 12: If you have previously registered elsewhere, indicate the address you used before. If you are registering to vote for the first time, there is nothing to enter.
• Sign (do not print and stay in the box) and put the date in the spaces above your signature. Check that you completed all required boxes.

Check your registration! You will know that your registration has been fully completed when you receive confirmation from the Board of Elections by mail, or you may verify it online at boe.knoxcounty.oh.gov. Also at that website, you can find out who your current elected officials are, see a copy of the ballot for the upcoming election, find the form to request an absentee ballot (a necessary step to voting by mail), and sign up to be a poll worker.
